Kevin Phillips

Kevin Phillips

Mr. Kevin Phillips became the Executive Director of Student Performance of the Palo Duro Cluster in June of 2010.

A lifelong Amarilloan, Phillips is a product of Amarillo ISD graduating from Amarillo High School in 1990 by way of Ridgecrest Elementary and Crockett Middle Schools.

After graduating from Amarillo High, Phillips attended West Texas A&M University in nearby Canyon, where he graduated with honors in Sports and Exercise Science and Geography. He went on to earn a master’s degree in Educational Administration from WTAMU, after which he was immediately employed as a teacher in Amarillo ISD.

Throughout his eighteen-year tenure in AISD, Phillips has worked in three of the four cluster systems as a teacher, coach, assistant/associate principal and campus principal.  These experiences led him to positions in all socioeconomic areas of the district.  Phillips served as the campus principal of Fannin Middle School, Crockett Middle School, and Palo Duro High School.

In June 2010, Phillips was named Executive Director of Student Performance for the Palo Duro Cluster.

During his career as an educator, Phillips has taken pride in the variety of school settings he has experienced and has developed a passion for creating a vision and hope for those students not traditionally expected to achieve high school graduation and post-secondary enrollment.  His last principalship at Palo Duro High School exposed him to a demographically diverse student population challenged by high poverty and dropout rates as well as significant ESL challenges.

Phillips is a member of Hillside Christian Church where he serves on the Hillside Kids ministry team each week as a greeter and first time guest host.  He is an avid outdoorsman and hunter.

He and his wife Kim are the parents of two sons who currently attend AISD schools.
